Jesus Saves. We Serve.

Thought: Converting someone is grossly different than sharing fruit and relating on similarities between faiths. The ideology of saving someone or converting them – deeply arrogant ideology.

So I was scrolling through my Facebook page per my usual and my favorite Muslim Facebook friend Fariduddin dropped this quote. My Western Christianity flared up for 2 seconds before the Holy Ghost said, “Okay and so?!? Why you mad at the TRUTH?” I had to cock my head and ask, “What is the TRUTH here?”

Holy Spirit said, “You don’t convert NOBODY. You can’t save nobody nor get nobody saved. Jesus did that. You just share your testimony, your experience with God, the fruit of the Word of God flourishing in your life. You become a living demonstration of God’s power. A vessel for His LIGHT.” But Jesus saves. Jesus draws. Jesus keeps.”

And so I began to revisit the wording we use and thought, “The homie was right. How arrogant!”

Nobody saves anybody. By the word of God I study, Jesus draws and saves. We just supposed to talk about Him—with our actions and then our words. We are supposed to live as He lived, love as He loves, give as He has given, making people seek HIS face, Not Ours. Ain’t no belt notches for how many people you get saved before you died. It’s no competition—and certainly not a game to be played.

Western “Christianity” is trash doctrinally because it is defined by white savior complex instead of the humility, mercy, and loving kindness found in the scripture. If we took 1/10th of the time we spent on telling folks what they need to do and spent it on what the word actually says? Wouldn’t nobody have time to tell nobody else nothing. The goal is to get your own self together per instructions found in The BOOK. Issa full time job not being an asshole. I ain’t got time to “save you”; I need to work out my own foolishness!

I ain’t wit it.

Jesus said: “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me” (John‬ ‭12:32‬ ‭KJV‬‬). Then, before He left He said 2 things. I’m going to give them to you in the amplified, which clarifies the language:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.””

Matthew‬ ‭28:19-20‬ ‭AMP‬‬

“But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses (tell people about me) in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth.”

Acts‬ ‭1:8‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

Notice the language used. In the KJV, it says TEACH all nations and also be My WITNESSES. Notice that Jesus never said we needed to go save people or get people saved. What Jesus did say was that our responsibility is to MAKE DISCIPLES. That means teach people about Jesus. Preach the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Talk about what Jesus talked about; do what Jesus did. And it says that He would send us POWER to do that bravely and boldly and effectively in the person of the Holy Spirit.

But you cannot disciple someone if you’re not convinced yourself.

And so instead? We’ve stolen a crown instead of picking up the cross. We have decided that we will convert people by fact or fear or force—whatever it takes, because it takes the sting of uncertainty out of our own lack of faith and unbelief. We become the hero in a story that never belonged to us, the same ones who needed saving just like the next guy or gal.

I want to challenge you. Challenge your words. Challenge the mindset that those words are built around. Challenge the holes that you stuff that pride into. This is a season of digging up, rooting out, tearing down so that God can plant and build up HIS WORD within you. So that you can do what Jesus told you to do: TEACH PEOPLE ABOUT HIM AND WHAT HE SAID.
