The Importance of Integrity

#TestimonyforToday: for the past few months, God has been dealing with concerning my level of Integrity. Integrity is the idea of doing the right thing for the sake of doing right-despite it being easier to do the wrong thing.

After a huge breach of trust with someone whom I love dearly, I began to see how little integrity I had. I always had an excuse, a reason, a “what had happened was”, or a “if you hadn’t done x, I wouldn’t have done y”.

SpongeBob Excuses

As God has led me into healing and deliverance about walking with integrity, I am amazed how we are not all dead by our own lips. We throw stones and pass judgment on those whose sins are out in the open (outright liars, cheaters, fornicators, evil doers): but let’s be honest-lies, untruth, omissions, and falsehoods rule our daily lives. We lie to people about what we are doing; we lie about where we are going. We lie about why we can’t come to this function; we lie about how much time we have or don’t have. We hide money from our spouses, and bills or things we’ve bought; we leave out who we’re with that day. We omit facts from our past; we tell our bosses one thing when it’s really something else. We promise to do things that we cannot do; take the easy way out every time regardless of the outcome… We try justifying our iniquity by coming up with reasons…trying to defend the indefensible.

We wonder why our blessings flow so slowly, why our children lack character, why our reputations are sullied. And to add insult to injury, we become angry and resentful when others do the same to us!!!

The word says that God is a spirit, and we must worship Him in Spirit and in TRUTH (John 4:24). If we are called to be like Jesus, then we, too, must be without guile-people must find “no fault” in us too. If we suffer, we should suffer for the gospel-not as murderers and thieves and sinners-but a blameless suffering with Christ that can shut down any nonbeliever.

We try to avoid it, but holiness must be our continuous goal-not just in the processes and actions that other people can see, but in our hearts where God sees. It’s not called a straight gate and narrow way for nothing!

I pray we allow God to wash us in His TRUTH. I pray that we all have a clear conscience and desire to live honorably in every way (I Peter3:16).
