Many people have been deceived into thinking that “repentance” means saying to God “I’m sorry. I acknowledge that I have done wrong. Thanks for being so forgiving.”
Nope. Nope. Nope.
Repentance: To repent and to convert involved obedience to God’s revealed will, placing trust in him, turning away from all evil and ungodliness. Each person was to “turn from his wicked evil way” ( Jer 26:3 ; 36:3 ).
Each person was to TURN. From his/her wicked way.
Turn. Turn. Turn.
What are you turning away from to get into agreement with God? What are you turning down, turning over, turning away from? If your “repentance” just includes saying, “God I sowry” like a little kid? Then you haven’t repented. You’ve just acknowledged your wrong. You’ve confessed but not repented. Repentance requires you to U-turn back to God.
