Rest for the Rest

The word for this year that the Lord gave ME is REST. And look what popped up!

Specifically, In my Spirit I saw these words: If you do not Rest, you cannot RESET for the REST. #TheGreatReset

Many of us struggle with rest because rest as a concept has been tied to the physical act of sleep or our body’s posture. And while sleep/physical rest is vital, it isn’t the REST the most need. Rest—the rest that The Spirit of God has given us is found in Hebrews:

“For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.”

Hebrews 4:10-11 KJV

Now, you need to read chapters 1-4 fully for the complete context, but in the simplest way possible? We lack peace—are not at REST because of unbelief. Unbelief is an insidious thing, and does not simply end just because we believe in Jesus Christ as a concept, which is what much of our salvation has boiled down to. Unbelief shows up in us believing that if we hustle hard enough, we can obtain a thing promises to us by Abba—that our hustle and hard work is us showing that our faith by doing a bunch of work. Unbelief looks like rushing through or skipping processes for fear that we are running out of time, despite being redeemed by one who sits atop eternity because He creates it. Unbelief looks like “I will” instead of “God has”—the ultimate leaning to our own understanding. Unbelief looks like the cut off culture, the cancel culture, the conspiracy culture in which we currently live—unforgiving and exacting and full of wrath rather than the grace, mercy, and love afforded to us all at the cross in the blood of the Lamb who has washed us clean despite us forever being filthy with transgression and trespass.

I could go on, but hopefully—prayerfully, you get the point.

Rest. Not this superficial self care, which is good! Please don’t just stop at the mental health care either—super important! Don’t just fix your eating habits or exercise more (but also do those things). ADD TO YOUR LIST REST.

It is by GRACE through Faith that ye are saved; and that NOT OF YOURSELVES, lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8). Understand the “THAT” referenced here is an antecedent for the word FAITH, not the grace. The faith itself is a gift from God. The faith itself is the ability to believe. The faith itself is THE REST.

If you’re turning your faith into work? You must go back to the cross. Because faith (the power to believe) is never a flesh and blood thing. It is ALWAYS a revealed thing. And where does it come from? Hearing. How do we hear? By the Word of God. Why? Because the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the power of the Lord unto every man that BELIEVE.

Go back.

Then? REST.

Trials will come. Troubles will comes. Death will happen. Losses will occur. We will hurt. We will cry. We will be frustrated. The labor, though? Is always entering into HIS REST.

Go read it for yourself. And may the Lord add a blessing to the readers, hearers, and doers of His most Excellent and Holy Word, in Jesus name. #LordIncreaseOurFaith
