True believers understand that salvation is a deed-less experience, that we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. That we find redemption in receiving the forgiveness purchased by the blood shed on the cross.
But there IS another step thereafter.
That same faith, when fully formed through the hearing of the word, produces the fruit of the spirit of God that makes you DO stuff from the space of love that emanates from God’s heart. Truth faith in God compels you to act—not just to tell folks the good news of the gospel but to demonstrate that good news in tangible ways. You desire to give to others just because the heart of God loves in you and presses through you.
As James declared in his letters: “Show me your works, and I’ll show you my faith by my works!” Don’t just talk about the love of God this year; BE THE LOVE OF GOD ON THE EARTH. There’s a reason that our bodies are called a reasonable sacrifice—we are to be His hands, feet, eyes, ears, and voice on the earth. Show somebody the love of God this year.
